Soil surveys are a crucial step in the planning or redevelopment of any horticultural property.
Since 1982, AgriExchange agronomists have been collecting important soil information for irrigated development across SA, Victoria and NSW and have been involved in projects in Queensland and the Northern Territory.
Utilising GPS, GIS and AutoCAD capabilities, AgriExchange’s trained and accredited agronomists collect soil information from each site to test the effectiveness and suitability of irrigation systems, identify any potential crop health problems due to unsuitable soil and maximise crop yield potential.
Close attention is paid to the depth and texture of the soils, depth to carbonate layers and the salinity and depth of water tables.
A full report, including professional plans, are presented for each survey conducted and include:
- Planting plans including surface elevation contours
- Soil improvement strategies to minimise crop failures
- Crop health troubleshooting to maximise crop yield potential
- Establishing the most suitable irrigation system
- Suggested irrigation selection and design
- Suggested selection of soil water monitoring sites to improve efficiency
Our helpful, experienced soil survey and land assessment division can also assist with:
- Soil analyses for salinity, pH and dispersion
- Proposed project and crop suitability assessments
- Soil laboratory analysis (salinity, pH and dispersion)
- Property mapping and layout plans using GPS, GIS and CAD
- Irrigation and drainage management programs
- Soil improvement programs (ripping, mounding and amendments)
- Pre-purchase property assessments
- Penetrometer soil compaction testing
